Community Events

The Village offers support to various groups and organizations who sponsor community-wide events that are free to the public throughout the calendar year. Watch for specific community events on the Events Calendar. Complete this form to submit information for the Community Events Calendar. Please make all submissions at least 14 days prior to the event.

Community Yard Sale - The Community Yard Sale for residents of Bethalto is scheduled for April 7 from 8 a.m. to noon in Central Park (sellers may at 6:30 a.m. to set up). The village provides 10 x 10 space, but participants are responsible for their own tables and chairs as well as clean up. Registration for booth space will begin March 1. Complete the email form to register.

Easter Egg HuntThe annual Easter Egg Hunt hosted by the Bethalto Rotary Club will be held on Mar 31 at noon in Central Park. Lifebrook Church will host the Easter Festival at the park immediately following the egg hunt.

Memorial Day Parade - The annual Memorial Day Parade and Ceremonial Service will be held on May 28. The parade lines up at Prairie St. and Plegge Blvd. at 10 a.m. and steps off at 10:15 a.m., travelling down Plegge to Roselawn Cemetery. The memorial service begins at 11 a.m. at the cemetery.

Jaycees Carnival - Every year, the Bethalto Jaycees bring their four-day carnival to Central Park in May. The event features carnival games and rides, food vendors and live music. Check the Events Calendar for specific times and dates.

Bethalto Splash Pad - The village will celebrate the grand opening of its brand new splash pad this spring. Check the Events Calendar for specific times and dates.

Fireworks Show - For several years, Cornerstone Church has gifted the village a fabulous fireworks display to celebrate the Fourth of July. Thousands of people pack the grounds at St. Louis Regional Airport, and hundreds of cars line the area roadway shoulders and parking lots to get a glimpse of the spectacular display. The event usually occurs on the Sunday night prior to July 4th. Check the Events Calendar for the specific times and date when announced.

Homecoming - The 99th annual Bethalto Homecoming will be held August 30 through September 3 in Central Park. A Labor Day weekend tradition, the event features food vendors, carnival rides and games and live music at the band stand. The Bethalto Volunteer Fire Department coordinates the Homecoming. Vendors should contact the Fire Department for applications.

Family Fun Day - Join hundreds of children as they celebrate National Day for Kids in Steve Bryant Park on Culp Lane. The free event, sponsored by the Bethalto Boys and Girls Club, features a kids fishing derby, face painting and various activity booths and treats for children. Family Fun Day is always the third Saturday in September.

Fly-In and Car Show - Whether you prefer your feet firmly planted on the ground, or you hair flapping in the wind, the Airport Fly-In and Car Show has something for everyone. View collectible show cars and vintage planes and sample a delicious variety of tasty treats on the grounds of St. Louis Regional Airport the last weekend in September. On Sunday, children can take a short plane ride for free!

CMHS Homecoming Parade - Notably the largest community parade, the Civic Memorial High School Homecoming Parade features the CMHS Band, appearances by queen and king candidates, dozens of floats representing youth organizations and LOTS of candy. The parades leaves the high school parking lot at 2:30 p.m. and travels south on Old Bethalto Road, then east on Second St. to Prairie St. After turning south on Prairie, the parade comes to an end on Roosevelt St. The parade is held each year on the Friday during school Homecoming Week.

Halloween Parade - The annual Halloween Parade, sponsored by the Bethalto Rotary Club will be held during the week of Halloween. Line up for the parade begins at TheBank of Edwardsville on Prairie St. The parade moves north on Prairie and concludes near Central Park. Check the Events Calendar for specific times and dates. 

Bike MS: Gateway Getaway - is a two-day biking event in September that begins and ends at Lewis and Clark Community College in Godfrey. A portion of the route takes bikers along Culp Lane and Steve Bryant Park serves as a resting center. Bikers experience an incredible level of camaraderie as they embark on a journey filled with laughter, excitement, support and a profound sense of accomplishment. In 2017, the event hosted 138 biking teams and helped raise $1.8 million nationwide for research. Check the Events Calendar for specific times and dates.

Lifebrook Chili Cook Off - Join in the fun at the annual Lifebrook Church Fall Festival and Chili Cook Off each October. The event features live music, door prizes and giveaways, bounce houses, chili tasting and judging and more. Check the Events Calendar for specific date and time. Trunk or TreatJoin hundreds of trick-or-treaters in Central Park immediately following the Halloween Parade for the annual Trunk or Treat. Representatives from local businesses, churches and civic organizations line the perimeter of the park with their Halloween-themed vehicles waiting for visits from trick-or-treaters. Check the Events Calendar for specific times and dates.

Trick or Treat - Trick-or-Treating is allowed in the village October 30 and 31 from 6-9 p.m.

BAMA Community Thanksgiving Service - Each year the Bethalto Area Ministerial Alliance holds a community Thanksgiving Service on the Tuesday evening prior to Thanksgiving. The event, which features music, prayers and sermons conducted by multiple local pastors, demonstrates the shared worship and fellowship among the local church leaders and congregations. The event is open to the public and is hosted by a different BAMA member church each year. Check the Events Calendar for specific dates and times.

Kiwanis' Breakfast with Santa - Enjoy pancakes with the whole family while the children visit Santa and make known their Christmas wishes. The free event is held the second Saturday morning in December at the Bethalto Senior Citizen's Center.

Christmas Village - Right after Thanksgiving, the Bethalto Christmas Village will light up Central Park. See lighted displays, decorated cottages, a live nativity, petting zoo and Santa Claus. Enjoy hot chocolate while the kids take a ride on the barrel train or find a great spot to snap a selfie. The event is free and is open every Friday and Saturday from 5-8 p.m. beginning the day after Thanksgiving and running through the weekend before Christmas. It is also open the second Sunday in December in conjunction with the Christmas Walk.

Christmas Choir and Orchestra ConcertFor nearly 30 years, the Bethalto Spirit Community Choir & Orchestra has performed a free Christmas Concert to kick off the Bethalto Christmas Walk. The Concert features singers and musicians from around the Riverbend area performing holiday pops, traditional Christmas songs and sacred selections in a variety of styles. Talented soloists and ensembles enhance the performance, which includes guest appearances by the Civic Memorial High School Chorus, the Zion Lutheran Hand Bell Choir and a youth choir. The concert is also streamed live on the Internet at Riverbender.com and simulcast live by radio station WBGZ 1570 AM and 94.3 FM. The concert is held the second Sunday in December at 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church on Moreland Road. More than 750 attend the concert annually.

Bethalto Spirit Victorian Christmas Walk - Step back in time and stroll through the downtown area enjoying the Christmas Spirit Victorian style! Find costumed street vendors peddling roasted chestnuts, cookies, wassail, popcorn and other goodies. Experience the sounds of bell choirs and singers caroling through the streets. And maybe even take a ride in the horse-drawn carriage. The event is free and occurs the second Sunday in December from 4-7 p.m.
