FIRE DEPARTMENT

The Bethalto Volunteer Fire Department is located at 213 North Prairie Street.  Each member is certified in CPR, Advanced First Aid, and the handling of hazardous  materials.  The village’s insurance (IS) rating is a five (5) thanks to these dedicated volunteers.  Not only does the ISO rating prove that they are educated in their field but that ISO rating also helps to lower your homeowners insurance.  Besides fighting fires and responding to emergency medical runs, they also provide families who have just had new babies with a smoke detector.  During Fire Prevention Week, they hold tours of the Fire Department for children in pre-school through the third grades and provide them with instructions on what to do in case of a fire.  Several rescue alert decals have been included in your folder to place on your home windows to assist the firemen when entering your home.

In case of a tornado sighting, severe thunderstorm, or other emergency,  sirens located throughout Bethalto will be sounded to warn you.  These emergency sirens are tested on the first Tuesday of each month at 10:00 a.m.  SHOULD THERE BE AN EMERGENCY, WE ASK THAT YOU DO NOT CALL THE POLICE DEPARTMENT.  THEIR LINES MUST REMAIN OPEN.
