Bethalto continues to work through these tough economic times. We are fortunate to continue to grow residentially and we are starting to show some signs of commercial and retail interest in our community.
Village Clerk Sue Lowrance is a life-long Bethalto resident, and can think of no better place to call home. The daughter of the late Robert (Bob) and Barbara Hilliard, Sue graduated in 1986 from Civic Memorial High School and went on to receive her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.
Sue, who was appointed to the clerk’s office in April, 2008, is now serving her first full term as Clerk. She came to the Village after a 17-year career in retail as the office manager for Ace Hardware of Bethalto.
She is active in the community, being a member of the Bethalto Spirit, as well as an avid supporter of the Bethalto Boys & Girls Club, and CMHS and Trimpe athletics. Sue also serves as treasurer of the Bethalto Eagles Baseball & Softball Club, and is a member of the Municipal Clerks of Illinois and Southwestern Illinois Municipal Clerks Association.
Sue is married to Jay Lowrance, and the couple have a son, Jonathan, and a daughter, Jaylyn.
